There are various parts within the dogfrisbee sport, such as Throw & Catch, Mini Distance & Freestyle .

However, Dogfrisbee competitions are not distinguished by the components, but more by the competition format in which they are played. There are countless formats, all of which have their own guidelines for, for example, the number or type of frisbees you can use, the time you have, etc. etc.

In Europe, AWI (Ashlee Whippet Invitational, www.ashleywhippet.com ), UFO ( www.ufoworldcup.org ) and USDDN are the best known. AWI is the oldest form of game.

However, there are many other initiatives that deal differently with the rules of the game and especially the (in)dependence of the various frisbee brands. The producers of frisbees sometimes have the inclination to sponsor a certain form of game, but then want to include in the rules that the competitor’s frisbees must be banned. This leads to a proliferation of games that come and go:

Skyhounds, Updog, Discdogathon, FDDO, Dogdartbee, Quadruped, Long distance, NDDF (Dutch initiative), German Disc Dog Challenge, Swiss Disc Dog Challenge.
